During his seven years at 3M, he started building trusting connections with business owners that sold and maintained different sports surfaces. By successfully expanding the dealer network, he was able to land a job at Robbins, where he spent 9 years. He strengthened his connections with sports surfacing contractors at this time. Ron recognized the value of a robust dealer network while working at Robbins.
In 1987, Ron left Robbins and took a job with Connor, a company with a less developed contractor network at the time. Because of Ron's expertise in building dealer networks, his extensive network of connections, and his dedication to the success of his dealers, Connor was able to successfully expand its contractor network. Ron's efforts led to many of the Connor networks' biggest clients, many of whom remain today. Many of the connections Ron made with Connor later developed into multigenerational partnerships.
Ron was instrumental in bringing the Connor QuickLock portable product to market. One of his most important sales accomplishments was winning the replacement of the Boston Celtics portable floor. This win was followed by much success in establishing the Quick Lock portable in the NBA and NCAA.
