As an installer, his initial professional accomplishment was to install Bruce 9 x 9 Oak Parquet in the halls and dining room of the Stephenville State Prison in 1939. He also installed the same type flooring at the East Texas Baptist College in Marshall, Texas. In the early 1940's he was the first to install Maple Unit block flooring at the Baptist Church on Ross Avenue in Dallas, Texas.
Harold Reid enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served his country until his discharge in 1945. He returned to Trinity Floor Company and became active again in the flooring business. He became president and owner of Trinity Floor in 1967.
In the past forty years, Harold has specified, supervised and installed hundreds of thousands of square feet of Maple and Oak flooring. He was the first to specify and install maple parquet flooring in High School and College gymnasiums in Texas and the Southwest. He was the first to specify and install Harris Bondwood in Six Flags Mall and several other major shopping malls and department stores in the Dallas Metroplex. Harold has been responsible for the installation of over 100,000 square feet of flooring in the Dallas Museum of Art and the Meyerson Symphony Center.
With his vast experience and knowledge of hardwood flooring, he has initiated and taught flooring installation, finishing and maintenance classes for the NOFMA/MFMA installation School in Memphis, Tennessee. Throughout his many years in the business he has helped many novice flooring contractors become knowledgeable, skilled professionals. At 88 years of age he has earned the highest regard and respect from his clients and colleagues.
One of his greatest accomplishments was becoming a Charter Member of the National Wood Flooring Association and being inducted into its Hall of Fame in 1994. He is the longest standing associate member of the MFMA. In 1986, he became founder and charter member of the North Texas Flooring Association. As such he has been dedicated to the growth and development of that organization. He is a past president of the Dallas Floor Covering Association and has received many, many accolades and commendations for his lifetime of outstanding work.
Harold favorite accomplishment was that of working with his best friend, Roland Holder, on the specification and installation of the maple gym flooring system at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
