He is a passionate fan of the Lions, Tigers, Pistons and Red Wings. For those who have spent time with Rick, his passion for maple sports floors is clearly what defines him. His tenacity was developed while playing football at Northern Michigan University in the late 1960’s.
Rick has been a part of the MFMA for over 40 years. His contributions to the industry can be summed up in one phrase: “What are we doing to our kids?” Rick has always been a staunch advocate to continue the push for safer floors for the athletes. He is one of the biggest advocates for DIN, PUR and EN in the industry.
After briefly dabbling in pharmaceutical sales after college, Rick met Morley Foster and began a career at Foster Floors in 1976. For the better part of the next 20 years Rick was a mainstay at Foster Floors and he still speaks glowingly of the professional growth and development that he gained under the watchful eye of an Inaugural Class - MFMA Hall of Famer in Foster.
In 1996 Rick moved to Kiefer Specialty Flooring to help launch their wood flooring division. It was during his time at Kiefer where Rick really began to define his legacy in the industry. His mission was simple: to teach owners that the performance of a floor system was the single most important part of the selection process. Rick is the epitome of a consultative sales professional. He continues today to assist in the industry while also teaching the next generation about the merits of the MFMA and Northern Hardwood Maple in the Sports Floor Industry.
Rick is a great husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend and loves taking his boat out on the lake!
