In an effort to maintain efficient service while respecting the privacy of those who visit the website of Maple Flooring Manufacturers Association, Inc. (“MFMA”) and correspond electronically with MFMA, MFMA has created and posted the following privacy policy.  This privacy policy is incorporated into and is a part of the Terms and Conditions of Use and applies to any site or application (as well as any features, ‎widgets, ‎plug-ins, content, downloads or other services) that are offered by MFMA and that post a link to this privacy policy or the Terms and Conditions of Use (collectively, the “Site”).

MFMA is committed to keeping your e-mail address secure. We do not sell, rent or lease to third parties the emails of members, annual meeting attendees or anyone else with whom we conduct business.

Information Collection and Use

We will collect personally identifiable information that you provide to us, including, but not limited to, your name, employer’s name, address(es), telephone and fax number, e-mail address, and credit card information. MFMA may use and store such information in order to notify you of official MFMA business; provide a product or service you requested; secure your membership status; complete your online donation; analyze, evaluate, and improve member and prospective member needs and interests; alert you of MFMA news, activities, courses and programs, services and benefits; and for other legitimate and lawful business purposes. Personally identifiable information may be given to a third party in order to complete a specific business transaction on behalf of MFMA. Contact information from inquiries received by MFMA may be shared with MFMA members to provide a service, satisfy a question, or develop a prospective business relationship. We may disclose personally identifiable information to the proper authorities if we become subject to a subpoena or court order, or if we are otherwise legally required to disclose such information. We also may use and disclose information about you to establish or exercise our legal rights, to enforce the Terms and Conditions of Use, to assert and defend against legal claims, or if we believe such disclosure is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take other action regarding actual or suspected illegal or fraudulent activities or potential threats to the physical safety or well-being of any person. If all or part of MFMA is merged or otherwise transferred to another entity, we may transfer the personally identifiable information you provided to us to such entity as part of that transaction.

Registration and Order Forms

In order to enroll or register in a program; attend MFMA events, meetings, or conferences; or request products or services; you may be required to fill out a registration or order form and provide personally identifiable information which we will use to process your registration or order. In certain circumstances, a program accessed through the Site may be jointly sponsored or co-sponsored with other organizations and registration may or may not be handled by MFMA. In such event, this privacy policy will not apply — instead, such third-party’s privacy policy will be controlling. Please note that MFMA is not responsible for the privacy policies of these other organizations (or their use of your personally identifiable or other information) and hereby disclaims any liability or responsibility in connection therewith. In addition, your name and information may appear on registration or attendee lists distributed at MFMA events, meetings and conferences to other attendees and third parties. Please note that MFMA provides Annual Meeting sponsors and exhibitors with attendee names and postal addresses, not email addresses. Attendees are granted access to a list of the names and institutions (including countries) of other registered attendees.

Cookies and Automatic Information Collection

Cookies are pieces of stored information used to provide smoother navigation throughout the Site, such as a saved password; to identify user trends, such as page views; and for other internal purposes, such as assessing the effectiveness of the Site. You have the option of setting your computer to disable cookies or to alert you when cookies are being used. If you choose to disable cookies, please be aware that portions of the Site may not function properly. In addition to any information that you choose to submit to us via our Site, we and our third-party service providers may use a variety of technologies, such as Cookies described above, that automatically (or passively) store or collect certain information whenever you visit or interact with our Site (“Usage Information”). This Usage Information may be stored or accessed using a variety of technologies that may be downloaded to your device whenever you visit or interact with our Site. To the extent we associate Usage Information with personally identifiable information collected directly from you through our Site, we will treat it as personally identifiable information.

This Usage Information may include:

  • your IP address, UDID or other unique identifier (“Device Identifier”). A Device Identifier is a number that is automatically assigned to your device used to access our Site, and our computers identify your device by its Device Identifier;
  • your device functionality (including browser, operating system, hardware, mobile network information);
  • the URL that referred you to our Site;
  • the areas within our Site that you visit and your activities there, including remembering you and your preferences;
  • your device location; your device characteristics; and
  • certain other device data, including the time of day, among other information.

We may use various methods and technologies to store or collect Usage Information (“Tracking Technologies”). Tracking Technologies may set, change, alter or modify settings or configurations on your device. A few of the Tracking Technologies include, without limitation, the following (and subsequent technology and methods later developed):

  • Cookies. A cookie is a data file placed on a device when it is used to visit our Site. HTML5 cookies can be programmed through HTML5 local storage.
  • Web Beacons. Small graphic images or other web programming code called web beacons (also known as “1×1 GIFs” or “clear GIFs”) may be included in our Site’s pages and messages. Web beacons may be invisible to you, but any electronic image or other web programming code inserted into a page or e-mail can act as a web beacon. Web beacons or similar technologies may be used for a number of purposes, including, without limitation, to count visitors to our Site, to monitor how users navigate our Site, to count how many e-mails that were sent were actually opened or to count how many particular articles or links were actually viewed.
  • Embedded Scripts. An embedded script is programming code that is designed to collect information about your interactions with our Site, such as the links you click on. The code is temporarily downloaded onto your device from our web server or a third-party service provider, is active only while you are connected to our Site and is deactivated or deleted thereafter.
  • Browser Fingerprinting. Collection and analysis of information from your device, such as, without limitation, your operating system, plug-ins, system fonts and other data, for purposes of identification.
  • ETag, or Entity Tag. A feature of the cache in browsers. It is an opaque identifier assigned by a web server to a specific version of a resource found at a URL. If the resource content at that URL ever changes, a new and different ETag is assigned. Used in this manner ETags are a form of Device Identifier. ETag tracking may generate unique tracking values even where the consumer blocks HTTP, and/or HTML5 cookies.
  • Recognition Technologies. Technologies, including application of statistical probability to data sets, which attempt to recognize or make assumptions about users and devices (e.g., that a user of multiple devices in the same user).
  • Tracking Technologies Usage. We may use Tracking Technologies for a variety of purposes, including:
  • Strictly Necessary. We may use cookies or other Tracking Technologies that we consider are strictly necessary to allow you to use and access our Site, including cookies required to prevent fraudulent activity and improve security.
  • Performance-Related. We may use cookies or other Tracking Technologies that are useful in order to assess the performance of our Site, including as part of our analytic practices or otherwise to improve the content, products or services offered through our Site.
  • Functionality-Related. We may use cookies or other Tracking Technologies that are required to offer you enhanced functionality when accessing our Site, including identifying you when you sign-in to our Site or keeping track of our specified preferences, including in terms of the presentation of content on our Site.
  • Targeting-Related. We may use Tracking Technologies to deliver content relevant to your interests on our Site and third-party sites based on how you interact with our content. This includes using Tracking Technologies to understand the usefulness to you of the content that has been delivered to you.

Analytic Services and Targeted Ads 

We use third-party analytics services, like Google Analytics, to collect, monitor and analyze data we collect through our Site to better understand how our Site is used and to improve its functionality.  These services may track details about your online activities over time and across different websites.  These services may also allow us and others to provide you with targeted advertisements or other content that you may be interested in based on your online activities. The Google Analytics service tracks and reports website traffic and provides us insight into behavior information relating to visitor age, gender and interests. Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting give us insight into behavior to help us understand browsing behavior and give you a better experience when you visit our Site. You can opt-out of Google Analytics for Display Advertising and customize Google Display Network ads using the Ads Settings.

These third-party services have their own privacy policies addressing how they use such information. We recommend you review their privacy policies. If you want to prevent your data from being used by Google Analytics, you may wish to take advantage of Google Analytics' currently available opt-outs for the web.

Users Outside of the United States

If you are from a non-U.S. country, please be aware that the personal information you submit, including information provided through our Site, is being sent to a location in the United States. The data protection laws in the United States are likely different from those of the country in which you are located, and your personal information may be subject to access requests from governments, courts, or law enforcement in the United States according to laws of the United States. By providing such personal information through the Site, you are consenting to (and represent that you have authority to consent to), the transfer of such information to the United States for the uses and purposes described in this privacy policy. Without limiting the above, for the avoidance of doubt we do not have an establishment or target ‎people in the EEA or UK.

Children’s Privacy

Our Site is intended for general audiences, and we do not knowingly seek or collect personal information from children under the age of eighteen (18). In accordance with the Child Online Privacy Protection Act, in the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age thirteen (13) without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. Your California Privacy Rights

Residents of California may also, under §1798.83, known as the “Shine The Light” law, request ‎‎and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, information about categories of personal ‎‎‎information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes and the names ‎‎and ‎addresses of all third parties with which we shared personal information in the immediately ‎‎preceding ‎calendar year.  If you are a California resident and would like to make such a request, ‎‎please submit your ‎request clearly in writing to us using the Contact Information section below.

Security

Online registration and information such as credit card numbers will be secured using a commercially accepted method of encryption.  MFMA processes payments using a PCI compliant payment processor.  For more information, please review the following page: https://www.growthzone.com/gz-pay/. However, while we employ reasonable security measures to protect your personal information, please be aware that no method of electronic transmission is completely infallible, and we cannot guarantee its absolute safety.  If you become aware of any breach of Site security, please contact us immediately.

Updating Personal Information and Participation

You may contact MFMA as set forth below to update your personally identifiable information, opt-in to, or opt-out of any service at any time.  We will provide opt-in and opt-out opportunities as applicable to the service or product being offered.

Acceptance of our Privacy Policy Terms

Using the Site indicates your acceptance of our privacy policy.  Your continued visits to the Site after changes are posted to this privacy policy will signify your acceptance of those changes.
