Douglas J. Drenik

During Doug's early years in the business, two factors helped shape his success: playing football for Ohio State University (lettering in 1962 – 1964) working under Woody Hayes to further his strong competitive spirit and sense of team play; and beginning his flooring career working for 3M selling Tartan gymnasium floors.

While at 3M he received tremendous business and sales training.

During Drenik’s tenure with 3M, he sold to the Cincinnati Floor Company and met Jim Stoehr.  Subsequently, in September of 1969, he came to work for the Cincinnati Floor Company. He worked in the Cincinnati area for approximately three years learning the contracting business and the sports flooring business before moving in 1972 to run the Indianapolis office of Cincinnati Floor. In 1980 Drenik was promoted to Vice President of Cincinnati Floor, moved back to Cincinnati, and was responsible for the specialty flooring division which included recreational and sports surfaces.  During that time he was very active with the WSFI, serving them as President in 1983.

In the fall of 1988, Drenik purchased the Cincinnati Floor Company from the Stoehr family. Over the last 20 years, the Cincinnati Floor Company has grown steadily under Doug’s leadership.  Drenik has been a leader in promoting MFMA maple sports flooring and quality systems. He was one of the charter members of the MFMA Advisory Council and served on the MFMA Technical Committee as the MFMA ushered in the DIN testing criteria.  During his career he has promoted the value of the MFMA to countless architects and mentored many newcomers to the industry. Drenik remains a committed MFMA proponent and currently serves as the CEO of the Cincinnati Floor Company.  Anyone who knows him appreciates his fierce competitive spirit, warm and friendly smile and knowledge of the industry.
