MFMA maple floor systems function extremely well under normal loads, however on occasion significant loads can have detrimental affects. Excessive loading like those resulting from placing exercise equipment on the athletic surface can lead to surface degradation and/or weaken structural components leading to system failure.

MFMA does not recommend leaving heavy loads on the floor overnight or for extended periods.  Maple athletic sports floors are not designed to handle such loads for extended periods.  They are resilient floor systems designed to absorb shock from an athlete jumping and running on the floor. When athletic floor systems designed for basketball and volleyball activity are exposed to excessive loads it can damage the resilient properties of the floor system.

If you decide to move forward with the plan of placing equipment on the floor, MFMA suggests contacting either the company that installed the floor or the floor system manufacturer for further advice to ensure you do not impact any warranty provision of the floor system.
