Cleaning Products for Maple Floors That Kill COVID-19

MFMA has compiled a list of cleaning products that our finish manufacturing members indicate can be used to kill COVID-19.  

Placing Exercise Equipment on a Maple Sports Floor

MFMA maple floor systems function extremely well under normal loads, however on occasion significant loads can have detrimental affects. Excessive loading like those resulting from placing exercise equipment on the athletic surface can lead to surface degradation and/or weaken structural components leading to system failure.

EPA releases list of disinfectants that kill COVID-19

The environmental protection agency released a list of disinfectants that kill COVID-19.  That list can be found at this link:  https://www.epa.gov/pesticide-registration/list-n-disinfectants-use-against-sars-cov-2  Are any of these cleaning products safe to use on finished gym floors?   MFMA reached out to one of the brightest minds in the industry, Stuart Hughes of Hillyard Industries. Men’s basketball 3-point line extended to international distance

Rule to be effective next season in DI, 2020-21 season in DII and DIII. The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel approved moving the 3-point line to the international basketball distance of 22 feet, 1¾ inches in men’s basketball.The rule will be effective for the 2019-20 season in Division I. Due to the potential financial impact of placing a new line on courts, the new 3-point line will go into effect for the 2020-21 season in Divisions II and III. 2018-2019 Scholarship Winners Announced

MFMA offers five annual scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each for secondary, advanced or trade school education. Applicants are considered based on academic, field of study and written essay responses. We are very pleased to announce five winners this year attending Purdue University, Louisiana State University, Oregon State University, Indiana University and the University of Wisconsin. RH Moisture Testing in Concrete Now Much Faster By Jason Spangler

As the result of findings from an ASTM-commissioned study, the ASTM F06 Committee has issued a significant new update to the F2170 Standard for in situ relative humidity (RH) testing in concrete floor slabs. The update changes from 72 hours down to 24 hours as the amount of time needed to obtain official RH readings after drilling test holes.
